I tried the static discharge thing, to drain residual power, that I found on google/youtube but this isn't helping. My Hp laptop won't be able to shutdown. I also had a problem where the internal power supply just quit and after pulling the whole thing apart, couldn't find anything wrong, put it back together, and it's been working ever since.
