Cherry Mx Red Vs Speed. Seems like pure marketing to me. Red vs Brown is just something you're going to have to figure out for yourself, maybe by trying open keyboards at a store.
My ISP blocked imgur for some reason thats why its showed up as link instead of gif. Quick video to show how the Cherry MX Speed Switches sound on three keyboards (Cougar VS Corsair). Mx Speed is basically red with lower actuation distance.
Due to the linear switching characteristics combined with the low spring resistance, the silver switch triggers directly.
What about linear vs tactile switches?
Now that we have gone over the major differences. FWIW I game and tried Speed vs Red and couldn't tell the difference -- I don't think I would pass a blind test distingushing them. Red, I believe the Silver is going to be much too sensitive for most people.
