Sodimm Vs Dimm. DIMM, SODIMM, and MicroDIMM are all different types of Dual In-line Memory Modules. The difference in terminology is meaningless, if confusing.
SODIMM - Small Outline Dual In-line Memory Module. SO-DIMMs are a smaller alternative to a DIMM. DIMM - Dual In-line Memory Module - still in-line, but with different contacts on both sides (as opposed to this being the same contact).
Please see our SODIMM and DIMM guide.

These memory modules consist of a number of memory components attached to a circuit board with gold. DIMM - Dual In-line Memory Module - still in-line, but with different contacts on both sides (as opposed to this being the same contact). DIMMs can carry features not normally found on SODIMMs such as ECC and REGISTERED.
