Number Keys Not Working. Please restart. i have a mac pro thirteen inch and today my number keys plus my left hand side shift keys just stopped working. i tried restarting the computer but that only led to me being locked out of my lap top in the restart window because i couldn't type in any numbers to enter my password. i am now only able. The most obvious indicator that Mouse Keys is the reason the numeric keypad is not working is that when you type a number, the mouse cursor moves very slightly, thus if you try to type a bunch of numbers the mouse cursor on screen may seem to jiggle around a bit in a small area.

Sometimes when you find # key not working, it may have something to do with your Language settings. I had the same problem and it seems to be the FancyZones part of Microsoft Powertoys that somehow makes the number keys stop working. my letter keys work and the number keys that run along the top of the letter keys are working too, but the number keys to the side are not working at all, i have push the number lock on and off many times and it makes a sound but all it does when ever i try the numbers out is make the page. However, sometimes non-functioning keys can be fixed.

Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and select Run as.

I'm quite sure that it is PowerToys due to the fact that when I turn it off, the keys are working as usual aga.
